From 18–19 June 2025, the BIKE-HEI project officially launched its mission during a two-day kick-off meeting in Alicante, Spain. The Association of Balkan Eco-Innovation (ABE) participated as a key partner and is leading the Communication and Dissemination work package to amplify project results and reach across Europe.
The project brings together a dynamic consortium that is commited to accelerating Europe’s Twin Transition (the green and digital transformation) through AI-powered innovation, entrepreneurship, and institutional transformation in the higher education sector.
What is BIKE-HEI?
BIKE-HEI (“Boosting Innovative and Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship of HEIs”) is part of the EIT Higher Education Initiative, a strategic program designed to enhance the innovation and entrepreneurial capacity of higher education institutions (HEIs) across Europe.
The project focuses on:
- Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to tackle challenges in environmental protection, climate action, and the green economy
- Supporting entrepreneurship and spin-offs through tailored services in HEIs
- Embedding HEIs more deeply into their regional innovation ecosystems
