Just as the global community began its week of celebrations for World Environment Day, the Regenerative Agriculture Alliance of Serbia (RegAgri Alliance) received a timely and prestigious honor. On the eve of this significant day, the Alliance was awarded the “Zeleni List” (Green Leaf) Award, one of the country’s most respected environmental accolades.
This recognition, presented by the Goran Movement of Vojvodina and Radio Belgrade 2 as part of their long-standing campaign “We are Looking for the Biggest Polluter and the Protectors of the Environment,” marks a significant milestone in our journey toward sustainable agriculture in the Balkans. Receiving this award just prior to the global festivities serves as a powerful validation of the collaborative efforts driven by ABE and its dedicated network of farmers, scientists, and volunteers.
Why the RegAgri Alliance was recognized
The jury highlighted the Alliance’s exceptional contributions in three critical pillars of sustainable development:
- Advancing knowledge and education
One of the primary reasons for this award is the Alliance’s dedication to democratizing knowledge. By creating the first educational materials on regenerative agriculture in the Serbian language, translating European standards and practices, and organizing expert workshops, the Alliance has made sustainable practices accessible to local farmers, schools, and the scientific community. - Practical application on demo farms
Theory is nothing without practice. The Alliance has successfully established a network of demo farms across Serbia, covering arable farming, fruit growing, and viticulture. These sites serve as living laboratories where producers demonstrate that regenerative methods stabilize costs and increase crop resilience against climate shocks
- Raising public awareness
Through constant communication with media, institutions, and citizens, the Alliance has elevated the conversation around soil health, framing it not just as an agricultural issue, but as a matter of national security and ecological stability. This persistent advocacy has helped shift public perception and policy discussions in Serbia.
A shared victory for a healthier food production in Serbia
This award does not belong solely to the organization; it belongs to every member, partner farm, scientist, and volunteer who works tirelessly to promote sustainable models. Their daily efforts prove that regenerative agriculture is a viable, scalable solution to the climate crisis.
We express our sincere gratitude to the organizers, the Goran Movement of Vojvodine and Radio Belgrade 2, for their trust. This recognition motivates us to intensify our efforts in institutional change, educating new generations, and expanding our network of responsible food producers.
Looking ahead: Continuing the mission
As we celebrate this achievement, ABE and the RegAgri Alliance remain committed to our vision: facilitating structured collaboration to drive innovation. This award is not the finish line, but a catalyst for future projects, deeper European integration, and a greener, more resilient agriculture in Serbia.
We invite you to join us in our mission to transform the Balkan agrarian sector. Together, we can build a future where agriculture heals the planet.
